About The Position

Team Carney is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Trusted Tester - Level II (Web Tester & Document Remediation) to support a federal client. This role involves serving as a technical authority for Section 508 accessibility testing, document remediation, and accessibility consulting across Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environments. The position requires performing standardized web accessibility evaluations using the DHS Trusted Tester process, remediating electronic documents and forms, evaluating ACRs and VPATs, developing test plans, advising on Section 508 defects, and providing technical guidance for accessibility training and certification.

Requirements

  • Active DHS Trusted Tester Version 5.0 (or later) Certification required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • 4+ years of overall experience working in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) environments.
  • 2+ years of dedicated web accessibility testing experience using the DHS Trusted Tester process.
  • 2+ years of dedicated experience testing and remediating electronic documents and forms (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe PDF) to Section 508 standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using the DHS Trusted Tester Version Section 508 Conformance Test Process for Web (v5.0 or later) and official DHS test reporting tools and formats.
  • Applied experience using Federal CIO Council Community of Practice endorsed Section 508 Tests for Documents to audit and remediate complex digital documents and forms.
  • Broad, deep understanding of Revised Section 508 Standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA).
  • Hands-on experience performing technical evaluations of Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) during product acquisitions.
  • Expertise in developing comprehensive accessibility test plans, interpreting complex test results, and advising development and content teams on remediating Section 508 defects.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to students completing accessibility training and DHS Trusted Tester certification examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform standardized web accessibility evaluations using the DHS Trusted Tester v5.0 (or later) process.
  • Perform hands-on remediation of electronic documents and forms across Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF formats.
  • Evaluate Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACRs) and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs).
  • Develop accessibility test plans.
  • Advise project teams on remediating complex Section 508 defects.
  • Provide technical guidance for candidates completing accessibility training and DHS Trusted Tester certification examinations.
