About The Position

The Trust Officer is responsible for administering trust and fiduciary accounts for which Cogent Bank serves as trustee, personal representative, guardian, or agent under investment management arrangements. This role delivers a high level of client service, ensures compliance with fiduciary duties and regulatory requirements, and supports the growth and retention of trust relationships. The Trust Officer primarily administers smaller to moderately complex trust accounts and may assist with business development activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, accounting, law or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–7 years of trust administration or fiduciary experience required.
  • Working knowledge of fiduciary concepts, trust administration, and basic investment principles.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, coworkers, and external advisors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with trust accounting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer assigned trust and fiduciary accounts in accordance with governing documents, applicable laws, and Cogent Bank policies.
  • Provide ongoing client service, including responding to client inquiries, resolving account issues, and maintaining strong fiduciary relationships.
  • Coordinate with internal partners (Trust Operations, Investment Management, Tax, Legal, and Compliance) to ensure accurate administration of accounts.
  • Monitor account activity, distributions, and documentation to ensure fiduciary accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate, as requested, in business development activities to support the growth of Trust Services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trust regulations, fiduciary standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ensures BSA compliance by reading and being familiar with the BSA/AML program/policy; following all BSA/AML/OFAC policies and procedures; and completing all BSA/AML/OFAC related online courses.
  • All other tasks, responsibilities, or duties, as directed by management.
