About The Position

Plains is hiring a Trucking Dispatcher to join our Commercial Trucking team in Calgary, Alberta, to support day‑to‑day crude oil logistics across our network. This is a hands‑on, fast‑moving operational role where you’ll coordinate truck movements, solve problems in real time, and keep product flowing safely and efficiently. You’ll work closely with drivers, carriers, terminals, and internal logistics teams to ensure every shipment runs smoothly. The position includes an on‑call rotation for after‑hours and weekend coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, finance, economics, or a related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in truck dispatching, logistics coordination, or commercial scheduling
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, time‑sensitive environment
  • Clear, concise communication skills with the ability to work effectively with drivers, carriers, customers, and internal teams
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Professional, positive attitude and a strong customer service mindset
  • Successful completion of criminal background and reference checks

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with logistics, dispatch, or transportation management systems is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Plan, dispatch, and manage daily truck movements across multiple receipt and delivery points
  • Coordinate with drivers, carriers, terminals, and customer locations to ensure accurate and timely product movement
  • Monitor truck activity throughout the day and proactively address delays, exceptions, or routing issues
  • Maintain accurate dispatch schedules, shipment tracking, and delivery confirmations
  • Build strong working relationships with third‑party carriers, producers, customers, and terminals
  • Provide real‑time operational updates to internal commercial, logistics, and operations teams
  • Support commercial teams with operational insights, capacity considerations, and execution feedback
  • Identify opportunities to improve dispatch efficiency, truck utilization, and overall logistics performance
  • Investigate and escalate discrepancies between planned, scheduled, and actual deliveries
  • Assist with issue resolution related to billing, settlements, and service performance
  • Ensure all dispatch activities meet safety, regulatory, and company requirements
