About The Position

Responsible for washing and disinfecting of tractors and trailers used to haul livestock through implementation of established production procedures. This role involves leading power washing staff, managing staffing and work schedules, teaching and reinforcing proper washing practices and bio-security, problem-solving, and maintaining a safe work environment. The manager also trains and assists in hiring staff, monitors washing systems and equipment, and handles administrative tasks. Additionally, this role requires coverage for drivers, including those with a Class A CDL, and involves training on pig handling, loading/offloading processes, and DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads power washing staff, actively participates in truck washing, and coordinates staff activities.
  • Manages staffing, work schedules, and absences due to vacations or illness.
  • Models, teaches, and reinforces proper washing practices, bio-security, truck parking, wash security, job safety, recordkeeping, and environmental/waste management.
  • Schedules and leads staff meetings; oversees staff activities.
  • Handles problem-solving, conflict resolution, disciplinary action, and documentation.
  • Teaches, models, and reinforces company values, business guidelines, desired work behaviors, and job safety practices.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and holds staff accountable for safe work practices.
  • Works with Human Resources to interview and select washing staff, and trains/develops staff.
  • Orients washing staff to their work-site and job, completing applicable training/paperwork.
  • Supports staff by teaching skills, evaluating performance, and directing/coaching for improvement.
  • Holds truck washers accountable for their performance to established wash standards.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of bio-security rules and ensures compliance with all bio-security standards involving the truck wash.
  • Ensures proper sequencing of truck washes based on wash schedule and bio-security rules.
  • Manages work schedules per bio-security rules and to achieve best cost.
  • Monitors the truck washing system and identifies operational problems.
  • Keeps appropriate people informed of situations, problems, and concerns.
  • Performs general maintenance and repairs on facility and equipment.
  • Performs timely and accurate data collection.
  • Monitors proper functioning of machinery and equipment, including electrical, natural gas, water systems, power washers, tools, office equipment, septic tanks, water lines, and safety signs.
  • Purchases necessary operating supplies for the truck wash via the purchasing system.
  • Keeps supervisor informed and updated.
  • Attends staff meetings as requested.
  • Assists HR/Supervisor with personnel issues such as payroll, benefits, and work comp.
  • Conducts/participates in annual performance appraisals and job description updates.
  • Abides by Passel Vehicle Use Policy, ensures safe/legal operation of company vehicle, and ensures proper maintenance of vehicle.
  • Provides coverage for drivers on vacation or sick, including long haul drivers, based on biosecurity needs.
  • Provides training on pig handling, loading and offloading process, and ensures compliance with all DOT rules and regulations.
