About The Position

Darling International Canada Inc. is Canada's largest provider of rendering and recycling services to the food industry, operating six processing facilities across Canada. Darling Canada provides essential services for the efficient and environmentally responsible management of collecting, processing, and recycling edible and inedible animal by-products. Reporting to the Logistics Department, the Truck Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of our fleet equipment.

Requirements

• Safety Certification required if levels are applicable
• Good communication skills
• Able to work with minimal supervision and/or in a team setting
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with federal, and provincial standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with provincial standards
• Sitting for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, pulling, pushing, lifting etc.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of hydraulics' is considered an asset
• Class 1 driver's license considered an asset

Responsibilities

• Complete all repairs and service to fleet equipment consisting of various trucks and trailers
• Complete safety inspections on equipment
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Adhere to all company policies and applicable regulations
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems
• Other duties as assigned
