About The Position

This position performs preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRUs) and trailers according to manufacturer procedures and company guidelines. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing TRU electrical and refrigeration systems, maintaining tractor climate control and communication systems, and performing various trailer repairs such as electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roof, tires, flooring, and doors. The role also involves performing preventive maintenance on tractor-trailer braking systems, installing and dismounting tires, conducting fuel drops and sampling, identifying and performing warrantable repairs, and assessing maintenance needs. The technician will also perform maintenance on various Walmart equipment, ensure compliance with DOT guidelines, and complete necessary documentation. Collaboration with colleagues and adherence to company policies and values are essential.

Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience in trailer refrigeration maintenance and repair (e.g. diagnostic and component replacement)
  • EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification
  • Valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Brake inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.25.
  • Vehicle Inspection qualified as defined in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations, Section 396.19.

  • Thermo King Master Tech, Carrier Master Tech or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration units (TRUs) per original equipment manufacturer (OEM) procedures.
  • Repair refrigeration trailer interior walls, floors, doors, and accessories.
  • Operate TRUs in normal, diagnostic, and service test modes.
  • Diagnose and repair TRU electrical systems using technical manuals and diagnostic tools.
  • Service TRU refrigeration systems.
  • Maintain and repair tractor climate control systems and communication systems.
  • Maintain and repair trailers in accordance with established procedures, including electrical wiring, lighting, landing gear, interior panels, roof repairs, tire seals, flooring, and doors.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tractor-trailer braking system components.
  • Install and dismount tires on/off wheels.
  • Perform flat repairs and tire balancing.
  • Perform advanced axle alignments using electronic/digital equipment.
  • Receive fuel drops and conduct fuel sampling, monitoring for safety compliance and following additive procedures.
  • Monitor tank levels before and after fuel drops.
  • Collect and prepare fuel samples for analysis and shipping.
  • Complete required documentation for fuel drops.
  • Identify and perform warrantable repairs.
  • Accurately enter condition, cause, and correction information into the maintenance system.
  • Complete warranty tags and ensure parts are retained per warranty guidelines.
  • Create and process warranty claims.
  • Assess maintenance, repair, and replacement needs.
  • Identify needed parts and potential solutions.
  • Consult with others and select the best solution.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on Walmart equipment.
  • Perform repairs and replacements per company and Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines.
  • Complete work orders, records, logs, and other documentation.
  • Assist other technicians with equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Complete work assignments by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, coworkers, customers, and business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress; recommending improvements; and adapting to change, challenges, and feedback.
