Truck Service Technician
About The Position
The Truck Service Technician performs a variety of duties relating to the upkeep and maintenance of Company transportation equipment. This role involves tasks such as fueling and washing tractors and trailers, checking fluid levels, lights, and tires, changing oil, filters, and tires, lubricating equipment, and performing minor repairs that do not require a certified mechanic. The technician will also complete required paperwork, input information into on-board computer systems, drive tractors, and ensure a safe work environment while upholding honesty and integrity in all job duties.
Requirements
- Ability to reach, lift, and work on objects weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull heavy equipment.
- Manual dexterity, overall coordination, and good balance to work both at ground level and high places.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work in close quarters, prone and awkward positions, or lengthy periods occasionally.
- Ability to drive truck tractor and 53-foot or doubles combination semi-trailer.
- Ability to operate heavy garage repair equipment.
- Ability to work on ladders.
- Mental alertness and good vision are necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
- Ability to apply required use and safety knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of duties relating to the upkeep and maintenance of Company transportation equipment.
- Fueling and washing tractors and trailers.
- Checking all fluid levels, lights, and tires.
- Changing oil, filters, and tires.
- Lubing equipment.
- Performing any other minor repairs which do not require a certified mechanic’s knowledge.
- Complete required paperwork according to Company policy and guidelines.
- Input information into the on-board computer systems.
- Drive tractors from fuel lane to fuel island.
- Perform duties on checklist while on fuel island.
- Follow Company procedures.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Responsible for performing all job duties with honesty and integrity.
