About The Position

W.S. Darley & Company, a family-owned manufacturing company since 1908, is seeking a Truck Mechanic to join our Tactical Division in Chippewa Falls, WI. In this role, you’ll help build, assemble, refurbish, and service specialized emergency response and tactical vehicles and modules used by customers throughout the world. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving mechanical challenges, and seeing a finished product leave the shop, we’d like to hear from you.

Requirements

  • Technical school degree or diploma
  • Equivalent military technical training
  • Relevant work experience in Diesel or automotive mechanics
  • Relevant work experience in Electrical systems (AC/DC)
  • Relevant work experience in Hydraulic systems
  • Relevant work experience in Plumbing or pipefitting
  • Relevant work experience in Auto body repair and refinishing
  • Relevant work experience in Welding and fabrication
  • Relevant work experience in Custom vehicle manufacturing
  • Relevant work experience in Fire apparatus or specialty vehicle construction
  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Employment eligibility verification
  • Pre-employment aptitude test

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hydraulic systems and water pumping equipment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical or electrical systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Wiring and plumbing vehicle systems
  • Assembly of operator and pump control panels
  • Installation of vehicle accessories and equipment
  • Metal, plastic, and poly fabrication
  • Welding and mechanical assembly
  • Pump mounting and component installation
  • Refurbishing and servicing used trucks and apparatus
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and work instructions
  • Testing assemblies and completed systems
  • Diagnosing and correcting assembly or equipment issues
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, hoists, and shop equipment
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
