About The Position

Mohawk Industries is seeking a Truck Mechanic II to join their team. This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial trucks. The position requires adherence to manuals, use of hand and power tools, and a strong understanding of automotive systems including electrical, power transmission, and brake systems. The role is for the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 6 pm to 2 am.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree required.
• 3-5 years of automotive shop experience.
• Technical knowledge to include: Light/Electrical Systems, Brake Systems, A/C, Clutch, Injectors, Tires, HVAC, Drive Lines, Cooling Systems, Aftertreatment Systems, Diagnostic Troubleshooting, APU Unit Service and Repair, Rear End.
• Ability to communicate in standard English and to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and to keep simple records and make routine reports.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends and to be reached by pager or phone, 7 days/week, 24 hours/day.
• Ability to maintain an acceptable level of attendance in accordance with company and department guidelines.
• Ability to work well with people.
• Ability to perform specific duties with instructions but without direct supervision.
• Ability to maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty vehicles, such as trucks, trailers, forklifts, and pickups.
• Responsible for diesel engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical troubleshooting, steering, and cooling systems.
• Installs new ignition systems, aligns front wheels, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts using hand tools.
• Overhauls gas or diesel engines using mechanic's hand tools, welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments using hand tools.
• Lubricates moving parts and drives repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
• May fabricate special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to blueprints or schematic drawings.
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
• Follow all established standard operating procedures.
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Perform other tasks assigned by management.
