About The Position

Experienced mechanic needed to perform diagnoses and troubleshooting of most vehicle issues with some supervision. The ideal candidate will complete jobs within a given time frame and maintain a 75% return-free work record. This role requires previous experience as an Apprentice-level technician, at least 2 years of experience, and at least one certification.

Requirements

  • UTI/Lincoln Tech/Pennco Tech (or similar) Certification and a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, including work as an Apprentice-level technician.
  • Experience and certifications may be substituted for formal program certification.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with customers or other employees of the organization.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out uninvolved written or oral instructions and deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Possession of at least one of the following certifications, which must be maintained: CVD13 – Vibration Analysis, CVE05 – Electronic Systems, CVE06 – Common Electrical Architecture, CVE12 – Electrical Troubleshooting, CVG01 – Heavy Duty Truck Systems, CVH02 – HVAC Diagnostics.
  • Valid license in good standing with no major or minor accidents in the last 5 years.
  • Tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Regular, reliable attendance required.

Responsibilities

  • Timely completion of work according to repair orders, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnose the cause of problems based on customer complaints and inspections.
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with individuals of all levels across the organization.
  • Confirm that all cores are returned to the Parts Department and warranty parts are properly tagged and returned.
  • Examine assigned vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicate with Shop Foreman immediately if additional work is needed, if outlined work is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Submit complete and accurate write-ups for each repair completed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensure customers' vehicles are kept clean and notify Shop Foreman immediately of anything that has changed the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keep shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintain and be accountable for dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as received.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with manufacturer technical bulletins, federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operate tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report any safety issues immediately to Shop Foreman.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by Shop Foreman, Service Manager, or management.
  • Road test vehicles when required or refer to test technician.
