About The Position

A Truck Equipment Mechanic at Reading Truck works under the direction of the Branch Manager/Service Advisor to complete the repair, maintenance and installation of specialty truck bodies and accessories. Reading Truck has over 65 years of industry leadership in the manufacture, distribution, and enhancement of work truck bodies, experiencing rapid growth through an expanding network of more than 20 locations across North America.

Requirements

• General truck and trailer technician experience
• Basic Weld Experience
• Experienced welding skills (ferrous metal)
• Experienced electrical wiring
• Independent ability to troubleshoot
• Ability to operate power hand tools (and have basic tools)

Nice To Haves

• Diesel experience preferred
• Understanding of multiplexing is a plus
• Hydraulics knowledge and experience (a plus)

Responsibilities

• Complete the repair, maintenance and installation of specialty truck bodies and accessories
• Understand, repair, and rebuild heavy duty brake systems
• Troubleshoot and repair heavy duty air and spring suspension systems
• Install truck bodies and commercial truck accessories
• Mount hitches, shelves, drawers, ladder racks, mud flaps, etc.
• Perform electrical diagnosis, troubleshooting, and diagnostic capabilities
• Follow safety rules and comply with all PPE requirements
• Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Manager
• Perform trailer repair
