About The Position

The Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a 26 feet box truck to transport donated goods and merchandise between donation centers, Goodwill stores and facilities, warehouses, and business partners. This role supports Goodwill’s mission by ensuring safe, timely, and efficient transportation while protecting company property and maintaining compliance with all safety, state, and federal requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 to 12 months of commercial truck driving experience or related experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the role
  • Valid Class C driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance standards
  • Ability to pass DOT drug screening and DOT physical
  • Ability to read and understand operating and safety instructions
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 60 lbs consistently and up to 100 lbs periodically
  • Ability to use a dolly, pallet jack, lift gate, and forklift
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions with moderate to loud noise and dust exposure
  • Physical ability to stand or sit for extended periods and frequently bend, kneel, reach, stoop, squat, and push

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification through Goodwill-provided training

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company truck or van to deliver and pick up merchandise from Goodwill locations and partner sites
  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and trailers using equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, lift gates, or forklifts
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical or safety concerns immediately
  • Maintain required documentation including vehicle logs, inspection reports, and load details
  • Communicate with site staff, warehouse leads, and the Transportation Manager regarding arrivals, departures, and route updates
  • Provide advance notice to sites when en route and complete required documentation upon arrival and departure
  • Secure, pad, and stack items properly to prevent damage during transport
  • Report delays, accidents, or traffic issues promptly to the supervisor
  • Use professional, courteous, and respectful communication when interacting with staff and the public
  • Follow all Goodwill policies, safety procedures, and required use of safety equipment
  • Support retail and organizational operations by completing related duties as assigned
