About The Position

Drives tractor-trailer combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver products by performing the following duties: Inspects truck before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck condition. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Prepares receipts for load picked up. Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Loads and unloads truck. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs. Ties download according to company safety policies, ensuring cargo is secure during transit.

Requirements

  • Must have a Class A CDL license
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
