About The Position

Responsible for delivering commodities utilizing a company vehicle with an attached 48–53-foot trailer. Transporting to local locations usually on a one-day basis. This role requires a strong commitment to human and civil rights and involves delivering food boxes to participating agencies. The driver will also assist in the Central Warehouse when there are no driving assignments.

Requirements

  • Must have an favorable driving record.
  • Michigan CDL endorsement Group (B) and all proper Michigan medical certifications required.
  • Knowledge of proper lifting procedures and ability to lift 35 pounds as needed.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient in Outlook.
  • Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
  • High school graduate or its equivalent.
  • Must obtain, annually renew and possess during working hours a Medical Examiner’s Certificate for commercial driver medical certification.
  • Prolonged periods sitting when driving the vehicle long distances within the service areas.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to five years over the road experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Central Warehouse Manager for daily assignment of deliveries.
  • Complete and submit inspection sheets and log sheets as required.
  • Ensure all bills of lading, package slips, and shippers are turned in to the Food Center Manager or Food Center Supervisor after each run.
  • Assist in Central Warehouse when there is no driving assignment.
  • Report any delays in loading or unloading immediately to management.
  • Maintain a listing of emergency numbers, procedures, and contacts in the vehicle.
  • Responsible for State of Michigan and Focus Hope daily and periodic maintenance truck logs.
  • Deliver food boxes to participating agencies.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
