About The Position

We are looking for a part time, on-call truck driver to join our team! This person will fill in on an as-needed basis. Bedford Transportation maintains a small fleet which hauls Bedford Industries product on a variety of routes. Our drivers operate well maintained late model freightliners with 53 foot dry vans and roll-up doors. We are looking for a safe, courteous driver with a flexible schedule to fill in on some shorter local runs (primarily on Fridays), and to be able to go over the road on multi-drop runs when our full time drivers are on vacation. (4-6 weeks per year) Ideal candidate would have OTR experience.

Requirements

• Have a valid CDL
• Have a safe driving record
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must pass DOT drug test and DOT physical
• Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
• Meet all department of transportation requirements
• Have knowledge of shipping documents
• Have knowledge of federal motor carriers safety regulations
• Have the ability to climb in and out of tractors/trailers safely
• Be able to sit for extended periods of time
• Be able to perform duties in temperature extremes
• Present a neat and clean appearance at all times

Responsibilities

• Fill in on an as-needed basis.
• Haul Bedford Industries product on a variety of routes.
• Operate well maintained late model freightliners with 53 foot dry vans and roll-up doors.
• Fill in on shorter local runs (primarily on Fridays).
• Go over the road on multi-drop runs when full-time drivers are on vacation (4-6 weeks per year).
• Secure loads with straps, load locks, and doors.
• Spot trailers at load docks (properly raising and lowering landing gear).
• Operate loading equipment.
• Maintain driver's logs as required by federal motor carriers regulations.
