About The Position

This position involves driving a company-owned or leased truck to facilitate shipping and receiving operations. Drivers may be assigned routes or shuttles, which could involve handling freight and transferring it between trailers. The role requires delivering products safely and professionally within designated timeframes, while maintaining positive customer relationships. Accurate recordkeeping, including DOT Hours of Service and vehicle inspections, is essential. The driver must maintain a clean truck and trailer, possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with proper endorsements, and stay familiar with current DOT rules and regulations. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to all DOT laws and regulations, and active support of the department's safety performance. Regular, timely attendance is expected, with flexibility for variable hours, including weekends and overtime.

Requirements

  • Requires Class A, Commercial Drivers License.
  • Requires DOT Medical Certification.
  • Team player - builds and maintains positive relationships with team, other departments, as well as vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Drive in a safe and professional manner while ensuring the safety of others.
  • Operate company-owned and leased trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
  • Handle freight and/or transfer freight from one trailer to another via the domicile unloading dock if assigned to shuttles.
  • Deliver product in a safe and professional manner within time frames designated by customer demands.
  • Maintain a pleasant attitude and build relationships with customers.
  • Produce and maintain accurate and complete records for each delivery or pickup.
  • Produce and maintain complete and accurate records as required by DOT Hours of Service and vehicle inspection requirements.
  • Operate/enter accurate data into the ELD system.
  • Conduct complete and timely vehicle inspections as required by DOT regulations and company policy.
  • Communicate any vehicle issues, repairs needs, or problems in a timely matter to designated diesel mechanics.
  • Maintain a clean truck and trailer.
  • Maintain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with proper endorsements at all times.
  • Maintain familiarity with current DOT rules and regulations.
  • Abide by DOT laws and regulations while driving and delivering company product.
  • Actively support the safety performance of the department and J&B.
  • Work safely, follow all occupational safety and health policies and procedures, and encourage fellow associates to do the same.
  • Maintain regular, timely attendance to meet customer needs in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Be flexible to work variable hours and days which may also include weekends and overtime.
