About The Position

John W. Stone Oil Distributor, LLC is seeking a Truck Driver for their Houston Mega Lubricants Facility in Houston, TX. This role involves driving a Class 8 vehicle combination (tractor-trailer) throughout the U.S. Gulf Coast and other areas. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with weekend rotation as needed, including some overnight travel. The salary is commensurate with experience, with a starting rate of $30.00 per hour.

Requirements

  • At Least 21 Years of Age.
  • High School Diploma (or Equivalent).
  • Basic Computer Skills.
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Valid Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with the following: Tank Vehicle (Tanker) Endorsement.
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Endorsement.
  • No Airbrake Restriction.
  • At Least One Year of Work Experience Operating a Class 8 Vehicle Combination Unit (Tractor-Trailer).
  • At Least One Year of Work Experience Transporting Bulk Liquid Products.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), including the following: No more than two at fault accidents within the past 36 months.
  • No more than one moving violation on a stopped school bus.
  • No infraction for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle.
  • No conviction for hit-and-run, eluding police, felony with a motor vehicle, or negligent homicide.
  • No conviction within the past 60 months for speed contest, reckless driving, exhibition speed contest, or driving under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substance.
  • No conviction for felony auto theft.
  • No more than two moving violation convictions within the past 24 months.
  • No suspension or revocation of drivers license within the past 36 months.
  • No conviction of presenting a fraudulent insurance claim.
  • Passing a drug screen and a fit-for-duty physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Drive, operate, and maneuver a Class 8 vehicle combination (tractor-trailer) in a safe, lawful, and efficient manner under all types of circumstances and conditions.
  • Inspect vehicle and ensure that all necessary corrections and repairs are completed in accordance with the vehicles owner's manual, as well as with all federal, state, and company requirements.
  • Perform general maintenance on the vehicle as needed, including fueling, changing oil filters, adjusting brakes, replacing or repairing light bulbs, lenses, and reflectors, maintaining all fluids and air, removing and installing tire chains and other types of traction devices, checking and maintain tire air pressure, and the like.
  • Plan delivery trips that use minimum variances and the shortest, correct, and legal routes for the timely and efficient delivery of freight products, using maps, road atlases, and other geographical documents.
  • Use Electronic Logging Device (ELD) to record hours and complete checklists.
  • Load, unload, handle, and secure cargo and liquid products in a safe, lawful, and efficient manner.
  • Complete and submit paperwork in compliance with federal, state, and company requirements, including invoices, bills of lading, delivery tickets, freight documents, vehicle inspection reports, daily record of duty status logs, Declaration of Inspections (DOI), and the like.
  • Communicate and interact with customers, vendors, company personnel, and the general public in a tactful, effective, and respectful manner.
  • Perform daily check-in calls and keep regular communications with Dispatch.
  • Report status updates, including loaded and unloaded status.
  • Report accidents, violations, claims, damages, losses, vehicle breakdowns, and the like.
  • Report changes in estimated arrivals, departures, and available times, as well as delays, changes in routing, and availability to work.
  • Wear, while performing certain duties, the required safety equipment, including a respirator, supplied air respirator, self-contained breathing apparatus, and the like.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations, as well as with the company Drivers Manual.
  • Assist other workers.
  • Crosstrain for the performance of other duties at company's facility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
