Requirements

  • Class A CDL; 53" trailer experience with automatic transmission (standard transmission experience preferred)
  • Minimum one year of commercial driving experience preferred; experience with flatbed or building materials delivery a plus.
  • Knowledge of DOT safety and hours-of-service regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with customers and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Operate company-owned straight trucks and tractor–trailers to deliver materials to customers, job sites, and distribution points in a safe and timely manner.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and report any defects, damage, or required maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations and company policy.
  • Verify accuracy of shipping documents, materials, and quantities before departure; ensure load is properly secured and complies with weight and safety limits.
  • Assist with loading and unloading freight, including the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, straps, and other load-handling equipment as needed.
  • Safely handle and deliver sheet metal, gutters, coils, and other building products without damage to materials or equipment.
  • Obtain customer signatures on delivery documents and maintain accurate delivery records and logs.
  • Communicate delivery updates, delays, or incidents promptly to dispatch or supervisor.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws as well as company safety and driving policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and basic condition of assigned vehicle and report maintenance needs promptly.
  • Follow site safety procedures while operating in yards, warehouses, or customer locations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including assisting warehouse staff when not driving.
