About The Position

CDL—A Tractor Trailer Driver. Our Drivers at Lapham-Hickey Steel are an important point of contact with our customers. Load, secure and deliver flat-rolled coil steel materials in a safe, efficient, timely and professional manner.

Requirements

• Must have a current unrestricted Class A CDL License.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic Computer Skills
• While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds and to climb onto the bed and into the cab of the truck.

• Driving Experience Recommended.

Responsibilities

• Drive Tractor Trailer to make steel deliveries as dispatched by LH Rome.
• Conduct Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections.
• Keep track of on-duty hours and driving hours by use of JJ Keller ELD System or manual log book.
• Position cargo to meet legal weight limits
• Secure cargo by safest way possible in accordance with DOT guidelines.
• Keep cargo protected from weather and damage by using tarp and chain protectors.
• Keep paperwork organized and accurately turn in payroll.
• Take truck to shop for regular maintenance or repairs as needed.
• Document and report any incidents or accidents. Take pictures and remove debris if possible.
• Wear all PPE as required where loading or unloading.
• Be professional when dealing with the public and customers
• Other duties as instructed by management
