Truck Driver
About The Position
Rexel USA is seeking a Truck Driver to join our Mayer team in Mobile, AL. The Truck Driver will be responsible for delivering products to and from customers, company branches/warehouses, and suppliers using a delivery van or box truck (no CDL required). The role involves ensuring deliveries are prepared efficiently, accurately, and without damage, and may include assisting with order preparation, picking up returns, and collecting materials from suppliers. Senior Truck Drivers will also train and mentor entry-level drivers. Depending on branch needs, other duties such as counter sales, order fulfillment, and receiving may be required.
Requirements
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must pass a pre-employment and annual review of the Motor Vehicle Record.
- Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
- Must not have had a suspended driver's license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years.
- Must not have any at fault accidents in the past 3 years.
- Ability to handle loads with a combined weight not to exceed 26,000 GVW.
- Ability to handle basic issues and problems.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and familiarity with traffic and driver laws.
- Willingness to adhere to assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- In lieu of experience, must attend company driver training.
Responsibilities
- Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects and complete a daily inspection report.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, service, and maintenance, and report any needed repairs or service to the supervisor.
- Adhere to Department of Transportation (DOT), local, and state driving laws and regulations.
- Load or unload the vehicle, ensuring all materials for each order are correct (quantity and type) and free of damage before departure.
- Assist in preparing orders for delivery.
- Ensure all appropriate documentation is thoroughly completed at the time of delivery, including customer signature on the delivery receipt, packing list, and branch/warehouse manifest.
- Pick up material returns from customers, inspecting their condition and verifying quantities and catalog numbers.
- Pick up material from company suppliers.
- Senior Truck Drivers will train, mentor, and coach entry-level Truck Drivers.
- Perform other job functions within a branch when required, including counter sales, preparing and filling orders, and receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material, and maintaining branch equipment.
