About The Position

USCS is seeking a Class A Driver to cover local and regional areas, operating 45’-53’ reefer trailers. This role involves safely operating a tractor to transport goods, ensuring vehicle and load security, and adhering to all relevant guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Degree/ GED Required
  • 1-year minimum experience operating Class A vehicles
  • Must have a clean MVR and provide an MVR upon request
  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Be able to read written English
  • Capable of following verbal and written instructions
  • Available to work various shifts
  • Ability to lift overhead
  • Bend and lift up to 70 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls
  • Use scanners, tablets, radio, phones, and other warehouse machinery
  • Work longer hours as needed to satisfy customer and USCS daily and seasonal requirements
  • Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements
  • Have acceptable and / or correctable vision

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a tractor to transport goods from or to customer locations following all local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Follow appropriate safety and food safety procedures for transporting goods.
  • Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices.
  • Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading-related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
  • Follow special cargo-related procedures, such as checking refrigeration systems for frozen foods.
  • Cultivate well-trained workforce, including support of performance-management, and career-development
  • Maintain yard security in accordance with company requirements.
  • Work with the transport team to manage yard-based transport requirements and ensure load out rates are in accordance with company requirements.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for, and ensure compliance with, all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability (SHECS) policies, procedures, and initiatives within a team
  • Support and ensure team compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives
  • Always maintain a professional manner in appearance and communications.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings if required.
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and record any issues relating to product, processes and/or quality.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in Safety and Educational Training.
