About The Position

Wizard Studios is a national company that specializes in unique and award-winning special event visioning, design, and implementation. We are seeking a Truck Driver to deliver equipment to customers in a manner that will improve the Company’s efficiency and savings, help achieve the Company’s mission and goals, and result in optimizing optics and outstanding customer service. The truck driver’s responsibilities involve pull, pack, delivery and pick-up, reporting, operations, service, safety and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by management. The truck driver will maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork within the Company and a favorable image of the Company.

Requirements

  • At least 12 months of prior commercial driving or delivery experience.
  • A clean, valid New York State or tri-state equivalent Driver’s License.
  • A motor vehicle record (MVR) free of major moving violations, DUIs, or excessive points within the last 3 years.
  • Must be at least 25 years old.
  • Proven knowledge of local boroughs, parkway height clearances, and strict NYC commercial loading zones.
  • Ability to regularly lift heavy cargo, sometimes up to 50 to 75 lbs, and handle loading/unloading tasks.
  • Possess a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate proving fitness to operate commercial motor vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Make deliveries and pick-ups in the most efficient, economical manner possible.
  • Deliver product to and pick up product from specified locations.
  • Develop and maintain an efficient routing system.
  • Ensure pull lists are complete prior to loading or delivery.
  • Develop and maintain an organized and efficient loading and unloading system.
  • Verify all items listed on the pull list are loaded and delivered.
  • Reconcile all expenses promptly and accurately, submitting expense reports, tickets and informing your supervisor of outstanding conditions related to the truck.
  • Ensure all tickets presented to the office are correct.
  • Present a copy of each expense transaction to your supervisor each day.
  • Inform supervisor of outstanding conditions related to the truck.
  • Inform your supervisor of potential problems or potential new business opportunities.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient operations when not making deliveries or completing expense reports.
  • Load and unload equipment.
  • Pick equipment from pull lists.
  • Replace equipment from returns.
  • Provide customer service that will result in greater sales.
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously with a friendly smile and a hello, and thank them for their business.
  • Assist customers with unloading and loading.
  • Promptly and courteously answer the phone.
  • Respond to after-hours calls from customers.
  • Work with customers to resolve problems and report complaints to your supervisor.
  • Actively work to increase personal skills and knowledge.
  • Wear a clean uniform and be neat.
  • Lose no customers due to the quality of service provided.
  • Deliver orders safely, following regulations, and safely operating and maintaining the delivery vehicle.
  • Observe OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Follow all company and regulatory agency safety policies.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Check lights and safety equipment daily.
  • Obey all traffic laws, including driving within posted speed limits and stopping and looking for traffic at all stop signs.
  • Drive defensively.
  • Report any unsafe equipment or working conditions to your supervisor.
  • Allow no riders who have not been approved by your supervisor.
  • Wash the vehicle as weather and operating conditions require to maintain a clean vehicle.
  • Follow the regular vehicle maintenance schedule provided by your supervisor.
  • Report any needed repairs or special maintenance to your supervisor immediately.
