About The Position

SA Recycling is seeking a Truck Driver to join their team. This role involves operating trucks to haul scrap metal, performing inspections, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. The driver will also interact with customers and work collaboratively with yard employees to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

Requirements

Must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Previous experience operating Roll-Off truck
Must pass a medical physical and drug test
Must pass a background check
Ability to communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus

Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal.
Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
Perform DOT daily operation and safety pre- and post- inspections.
Obey and follow applicable traffic laws.
Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, inspecting cargo, selecting proper tools (chains, straps, dunnage), following FMCSA regulations to maintain, and regularly checking loads.
Report defects, accidents, and violations.
Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
Work with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
Perform normal daily operation maintenance: refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping.
Clean-up work area at the end of shift. Keep work areas neat and orderly.
Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
