About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo regional truck driver based in Marion, Virginia. Drivers deliver freight east of Kansas using a sleeper tractor and 53-foot dry van, curtainside, or flatbed trailers. Freight consists of molding and building products and involves touch freight and load securement using straps, bungees, and tarping; a tarping machine is available on site. The schedule runs Sunday through Friday with an AM dispatch, and drivers are out overnight four to five times per week. The posting states drivers typically earn $1,650 per week, with weekly pay, mileage and stop pay, safety bonuses, sign-on and loyalty bonuses, and paid training. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and access to fueling at more than 800 maintenance locations. The role includes medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days, PTO accrual starting on day one, and other listed benefits.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical.
Pass a Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Nice To Haves

Flatbed experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Deliver freight solo to destinations east of Kansas.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading when required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
