We are looking for a responsible and motivated 5-Ton Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will hold a Class 5 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement, with a commitment to safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This role involves transporting goods across various locations, maintaining warehouse operations, and collaborating with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements

  • Class 5 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement (Class 3 or higher preferred).
  • Clean driving record with verifiable experience in driving commercial vehicles (e.g., 5-ton trucks).
  • Previous or current forklift certification is an asset.
  • Experience with GPS and routing software to plan and follow the most efficient routes.
  • Strong time management skills to ensure deliveries are completed within schedule.
  • Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance and a proactive approach to ensuring vehicle safety.
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy loads (up to 50 lbs) and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in case of delivery route changes, traffic delays, or unforeseen challenges.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision while adhering to company policies.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate and complete deliveries.
  • Dependable and able to work flexible hours, including graveyard shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays if required.
  • Demonstrates professionalism with a customer-focused mindset during deliveries and interactions.
  • Proactive communicator who keeps the team informed and updates management on any issues.
  • Strong sense of responsibility for company property, ensuring the truck and equipment are well-maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to daily warehouse schedules to ensure on-time product deliveries.
  • Safely load and unload trucks using forklifts or manual handling where necessary, ensuring product integrity.
  • Deliver products and supplies to various shop locations across the Lower Mainland.
  • Shuttle goods between Purdys Warehouses, and other Greater Vancouver locations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are safe and ready for operation.
  • Ensure compliance with traffic laws, safety policies, and company standards.
  • Assist with warehouse duties including packing, shipping, receiving, and organizing products and supplies.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance checks (fluid levels, brakes, tires, lights) and report any mechanical issues immediately.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff to manage inventory accuracy, ensuring products are properly documented and stored in accurate location.
  • Communicate with Supervisor to update on delivery progress and address any issues.
  • Ensure timely reporting of any accidents, delays, or delivery issues.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with shop personnel during deliveries.
