About The Position

American Water is seeking a Truck Driver/ Utility Worker to work in our Chattanooga, TN location. In this role you will perform a variety of tasks to assist in the efficient and reliable operation, maintenance, protection, and appearance of all pipelines, services, hydrants, valves, and other appurtenances within the distribution system. We're looking for a hands-on safety-focused team member.

Requirements

High School graduate or State-recognized Educational Equivalency Certificate.
Specific vocational preparation includes an occupationally-significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience.

Responsibilities

Constantly performs work assigned by supervisor; collects, compiles, and records work data
Constantly breaks up pavement, using pavement breakers, pry bars, shovels, picks, and other hand tools to dig excavations preparatory to removing and/or repairing pipes
Frequently backfills, tamps, and installs temporary paving, using assorted hand tools and tamping machine
Frequently ensures jobsite is secure prior to leaving
Frequently determines appropriate material, pipe sections, valves, and fittings needed to perform assigned work
Frequently performs cutting, threading, brazing, soldering, and connecting or adjoining pipe and fittings, as required
Frequently performs taps, as required.
Occasionally drives company vehicles including backhoe, as require
Occasionally installs or removes shoring systems, as required
Constantly follows established safety guidelines and procedures
Occasionally performs duties of Laborer, as required
Performs other duties as assigned
