About The Position
This position is responsible for driving a Salvation Army truck along a scheduled route to pick up donations and/or deliver merchandise. The role involves operating the truck in compliance with Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations, and assisting in the thrift store and warehouse. Responsibilities include receiving, sorting, pricing, and preparing donated items for display, determining suitability and pricing of items, and maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D
- One year experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van
- Valid State Driver's License
Responsibilities
- Drives Salvation Army truck along scheduled route to pick-up donations and/or deliver merchandise to customers.
- Operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations.
- Lifts, carries, loads and unloads variety of donations including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.
- Ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and donations at all times.
- Assists in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse.
- Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store.
- Determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards.
- Assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.
- Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.
- Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations.
- Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators maintenance in accordance with established standards.
- Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing.
- Discards items in accordance with established procedures.
- Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly.
- Assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.
