About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class B Casual Truck Driver in Romeoville, IL — offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. This position involves delivering SOLO to the Chicago and Suburban Area around Chicago, and North Indiana. The route is local, meaning drivers are home daily. The tractor type is a 26' Straight Truck and drivers will be operating a vehicle that is 36 months or newer with 24/7 Roadside Maintenance and fueling at over 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Ryder will train you on all equipment needed to be successful, including the Pallet Jack, Dolly, and Lift Gate. Freight is touch freight, specifically HVAC. Requirements

Minimum 21 years of age
Minimum of 6 months of verifiable driving experience
Pass a Ryder Drug Test
Must have verifiable driving experience (must be in like equipment if position being applied for is operating a straight truck or box truck): 6 Months experience in the past 3 years, OR 2 years' experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years' experience within the last 10 years
Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Pass a DOT physical
Pass a Ryder road test
Must have a valid driver’s license
Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
Hazmat Required at Interview
Candidates who possess a valid Commercial Drivers License will be subject to FMCSA requirements, including but not limited to, pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse query.

Responsibilities

Safely driving a vehicle within and requires compliance with safety regulations, continuous training and customer service.
Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
Maintaining accurate records
Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
Other tasks as assigned
