About The Position

This position is responsible for operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to transport goods. The driver will perform pre and post-trip inspections, ensure proper load securement, and maintain accurate paperwork. The role requires adherence to government regulations and may involve assisting with unloading and working in various weather conditions and on weekends.

Requirements

Valid Class A CDL
Ability to pass all DOT requirements (physical, drug test, road test, and a clean MVR)
Ability to do heavy lifting up to 50 lbs
Basic math skills
Ability to read and interpret shipping/receiving/production documents
Ability to understand and follow directions, both written and oral
Ability to work and drive in various weather conditions
Ability to read and write
Must be able to work weekends, if needed

Nice To Haves

2 years verifiable CDL experience is preferred
Computer knowledge a plus
Basic understanding of government rules and regulations surrounding the operation of a CMV
CDL in good standing

Responsibilities

Enter/exit tractor
Perform pre and post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer on a safety checklist
Log any defects and alert manager of any needed repairs
Properly couple and uncouple trailers, and raise/lower trailer landing gear
Back trailers in and out of shipping/receiving docks
Safely operate compression trailer mechanism
Drive trailers to designated areas safely and appropriately
Utilize time management skills to guarantee on-time delivery
Pick up/deliver backhauls as needed
Maintain accurate and legible paperwork
Assist receiving department with unloading of trailers if needed
Ensure proper load securement of all freight
