About The Position

The Truck Driver I is responsible for transporting materials, donations, and salvage between stores and warehouses. This role involves loading and unloading trucks, performing daily vehicle inspections and routine maintenance, and ensuring adherence to all safety protocols. The Truck Driver I also represents Goodwill professionally when interacting with donors and staff, and works from company policies and instructions, submitting required reports at the end of each shift.

Requirements

  • GED/diploma required
  • 1 year in Box Truck driving required
  • Flexibility/adaptability
  • Customer Orientation
  • Ability to work independently
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well within a team environment
  • Clean driving record and the ability to pass drug screens
  • Valid driver's license and insurance required
  • Valid Non-CDL Class C license required
  • Travel within GIWM territory (generally in agency vehicle)
  • Ability to work weekends and some holidays

Nice To Haves

  • CDL preferred
  • Powered industrial truck license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transport materials, donations, and salvage between stores and warehouses.
  • Load/unload trucks, often using pallet jacks or hand trucks, and securely arrange gaylords/skids, and other cargo.
  • Assist warehouse staff and others to prepare loads, maintain documentation, and clean warehouses.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance checks on vehicles.
  • Fuel vehicles, record fueling data on receipts and submit copies in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all MDOT, OSHA, and company safety protocols.
  • Adhere to safety policies regarding handling of equipment and storage of merchandise within specified areas.
  • Follow safety rules, ensure safe operating conditions are followed within area of responsibility, wear required personal protective equipment and clothing, keeping truck, and loading areas clean and orderly.
  • Represent Goodwill professionally when interacting with donors and staff.
  • Work from company policies, standards, and instructions, vehicle inspection lists, driver logs, shippers, and other related documentation; submit required reports at the end of each shift.
