About The Position

The Truck Driver is a skilled position involving the safe transportation of forklifts, sweeper/scrubbers, aerial lift equipment, industrial batteries, and related industrial equipment on our manual transmission tilt-bed truck. Our truck is a Kenworth T370 10-speed manual transmission vehicle with a tilt bed. Normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

  • A New York State Class B driver’s license with a clean driving record is a must.
  • Ability to drive an 18-speed double clutch manual transmission is a requirement.
  • Demonstrated technical and driving skills.
  • Able to perform simple industrial battery testing and minor repairs (we will provide necessary training).
  • Able to rotate work schedules so the Division’s emergency breakdown policy will be adhered to.
  • Able to work with limited supervision on simple to complex tasks.
  • Able to work independently in defined systems.
  • Effective math and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years prior experience in trucking/transportation of heavy equipment is preferred.
  • We will consider recent truck driving school graduates with instructor recommendations.
  • Experience with the type of forklifts and sweeper/scrubbers sold and serviced by JIT is preferred but not required.
  • Some technical college is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Load equipment, secure loads, transport and unload safely.
  • Ensure that tools are secure, in place, and the winch and other mechanisms essential to the safe and proper functioning of the equipment are in good working order.
  • Verify equipment being transported matches the equipment listed on the transportation document.
  • Inspect rented equipment when it is going out and being returned, verifying that everything functions and is in good condition.
  • Complete all required paperwork, including maintenance and mileage reports for the flatbed truck, within the constraints of the procedures.
  • Represent the company professionally to our customers.
  • Demonstrate the proper operation of the equipment to the staff at a customer location.
  • Present the company’s image by adherence to the company dress and conduct codes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
