Requirements

  • Class A CDL
  • Minimum 1 year flatbed experience
  • No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Appropriate state license to operate truck.

Responsibilities

  • Loads or unloads truck using a forklift.
  • Reads and understands map book and/or written directions to locate delivery destination.
  • Drives truck to destination.
  • Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains safe driving record and obeys all state, local and federal driving laws.
  • Displays driving courtesy to all other drivers.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Performs emergency roadside repairs if able.
  • Observes all company safety policies and procedures pertaining to this position.
  • Position blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Checks all shipping paperwork before delivery to assure proper loads are being loaded and delivered.
  • Reports any operational or safety concerns regarding company trucks to supervisor.
  • Attends safety and TQM meetings as required.
  • Ability to work irregular hours.
