About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver in Kent, Washington, for local routes with daily home time. The driver delivers solo in Washington, operating a day cab and a 53-foot dry van with touch freight consisting of home furnishings. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 6:30 a.m., with approximately 50 hours per week. Pay is $33.25 per hour, with an average of $1,628 per week, and paid training is provided.

Drivers operate well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The role involves complying with applicable laws and regulations, identifying and minimizing safety hazards, maintaining records and logs, and loading or unloading freight or assisting with those tasks if required by the customer. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical and a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
