About The Position

As a CDL Class A Truck Driver at Springfield Plastics, you will deliver and unload plastic drainage pipe and fittings to contractors, farmers, and wholesale distributors primarily throughout the mid-west to fulfill their drainage needs. Our CDL Class A Truck Drivers are home most nights, averaging about 1 overnight trip per week. Drivers are paid by the mile, with a starting mileage rate of $0.40/mile. Drop fees are also paid: $13 for the first drop and $10 for each additional drop. Additionally, drivers are compensated hourly for time spent at drop sites, during breakdowns, traffic jams, or truck cleaning, with a starting hourly rate of $18/hour. Mileage rates are reviewed at 60 days, 6 months, and 12 months, then annually. Springfield Plastics, Inc. ensures no layoffs during slow seasons by offering on-site work to truck drivers, guaranteeing a full week's pay.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Class A CDL Required
  • Current Medical Examiners Certification
  • 1 year tractor/trailer driving experience required
  • Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
  • No recent moving or driving violations
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Comfortable with use of EDLs
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds above the head
  • Ability to stand, climb, squat, bend, crouch, push, pull and reach repeatedly for up to 12 hours per day
