About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL solo truck driver in Des Moines, Iowa, for local Northwest Iowa routes with daily home time. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor pulling a 48-foot flatbed and transport steel freight, using chaining, tarping, and strapping for load securement. Trucks are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with no weekends, a 5:00 a.m. start time, and 10–12 hours per day. The position averages more than 50 hours per week and pays weekly, with a stated $1,400 weekly guarantee and average weekly pay of $1,400. Pay includes $0.55 per solo mile, based on 1,100 miles per week, and $10.63 per solo stop, based on 15–20 stops per week. Paid training is provided. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Pass a Ryder drug test.
Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
Have at least 3 months of flatbed experience.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
Perform other duties as assigned.
