About The Position

The Truck Driver/Base Kitchen delivers cooked meals from the Base Kitchen to receiving sites; maintains and services delivery trucks. This role is part of the Food Services division and operates on a 10-month work year within the Finance department. The position requires a commitment to creating and sustaining a thriving learning and working environment for students and staff, and upholding the district's commitment to nondiscrimination.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Six months of previous truck driving experience.
  • A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.
  • Must possess a valid Maricopa County Food Handler's Card.
  • Possess an Active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.
  • Skill safely operating trucks and other vehicles.
  • Ability to learn warehouse delivery procedures.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to use initiative within organizational policies, procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Drives prepackaged and prepared meals from the base kitchen to receiving sites.
  • Assists with serving breakfast and/or lunch at designated sites.
  • Maintains and cleans delivery trucks and other assigned vehicles; performs regular safety checks.
  • Cleans kitchen, service, and snack bar areas and fryer machine.
  • Picks up produce and other stock at warehouse.
  • Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff.
  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information.
  • Follows Governing Board Policies.
  • Performs all other related duties as required or assigned.
