About The Position

Immediate Opportunities: Full-time Apprentice Class A CDL Truck Drivers. Earn $26.00 per hour with overtime after 40 hours until the apprentice program is complete. Coil endorsement required. Home daily. You will drive late model, Penske Truck Leasing trucks with best-in-class specs designed for comfort and safety, equipped with inward and outward facing in-cab cameras helping to ensure safety for all. Deliver aluminum scrap and coils for a world leader in rolled aluminum products. Home daily. Schedule: 5-day work week. Nights and weekends required. Penske offers on-the-job training to hone your existing skills as a Class A licensed driver. Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of a Penske approved CDL School (CDL 160, Ivy Tech, Truck Drivers Institute, New England Tractor Trailer Training School), or a current or former member of the US Armed Forces
  • Valid Class A CDL required
  • Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
  • Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card required
  • 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
  • Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • English language proficiency
  • Work the required schedule, work at the specific location required
  • Complete Penske employment application
  • Submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history)
  • Submit to drug screening
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others
  • The associate must be able to see and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg

Nice To Haves

  • Less than 12 months of commercial driving experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver aluminum scrap and coils for a world leader in rolled aluminum products
  • Legally operate a motor vehicle
  • Safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area
