About The Position

Knife River is a PEOPLE-first company and one of the 10 largest construction materials producers/contractors in the Country. This is a seasonal position, allowing for winters off while benefits continue year-round. The role is responsible for operating and maintaining straight truck or tractor-trailer equipment to transport material to designated locations in a timely manner. Requirements

  • Ability to hold and maintain a Class A license in accordance with all state and federal DOT/FMCSA regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site, often times driving on uneven or unfinished surfaces.
  • Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits a report indicating truck condition.
  • Maintains driver log according to ICC regulations as required.
  • May operate a loader to load aggregate into the truck box.
  • Perform daily maintenance of equipment such as cleaning the truck inside and out, greasing, oiling, checking brakes and lights, and any other instructed maintenance.
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up, and take downs.
  • Tarp load when needed.
  • Clean spilled material/buildup off the box (spill chutes, belts, side boards, etc.).
  • Verify that gates are closed.
  • Complete load tickets.
  • Maintain proper information in the truck cab pouch.
  • Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information, and other needed paperwork.
  • Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
