About The Position

Under the supervision of the shipping department supervisor, operate bulk truck loading facility to load cement in customers’ trucks and weigh incoming coal trucks. This role involves transferring cement from storage silos, maintaining silo levels, and performing operational maintenance on equipment. The position requires utilizing a computer, maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to safety policies, performing housekeeping, and conducting workplace inspections. Familiarity with MSHA safety rules and various plant safety procedures is essential. The role also includes ensuring work quality, participating in continuous improvement, observing best practices, managing time effectively, and troubleshooting. The employee will work where and when needed to meet plant needs.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent or good mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour rotating shift.
  • Ability to deal with public and maintain good customer relations.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good physical condition as position may require bending, kneeling, walking, standing, climbing, stairs and lifting; high degree of manual dexterity and coordination and good eye/hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Operate bulk truck loading facility to load cement in customers’ trucks.
  • Weigh incoming coal trucks.
  • Load bulk trucks per instruction from truck driver.
  • Weigh bulk trucks and process weight tickets and bills of lading.
  • Obtain mill analysis for customer from quality control when required by customer.
  • Transfer cement from main storage silo to loadouts.
  • Maintain storage silo to full level.
  • Perform operational maintenance on air compressors, dust collectors, pumps, etc.
  • Utilize computer.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhere to safety policies and practices.
  • Perform daily housekeeping of assigned area.
  • Perform daily workplace inspections.
  • Adhere to plant policies and proper use of plant radios.
  • Be familiar with MSHA safety rules, safety procedures for plant mobile equipment, lockout/tagout policy, confined space permit policy, hot work policy, emergency response plan, arc flash/shock and burn protection, proper containment and disposal process (via Waste Management Plan) for lubricants, paints/solvents and other environmentally sensitive materials.
  • Ensure quality of work performed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement system.
  • Observe and promote best practices.
  • Good time management and be able to troubleshoot/analyze root cause failure.
  • Work where and when needed as directed by plant supervisory personnel to meet plant needs.
