Come build your career with a team that invests in you from day one. This is a Full-Time, Exempt position located in Utica, NY, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The pay range is $65,000 - $75,000 base salary plus commission.

Requirements

  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • Candidate must be able to present themselves professionally in a multitude of environments, from entertaining, to the board rooms of very high-profiled fleet owners.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid Driver's License required; must meet company insurability standards.
  • Must be able to drive across county and state lines.
  • Read and be accountable to The Hunter Family of Companies New and Used Truck Sales Policies and Procedures manual.
  • Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment.

  • Commercial Driver’s License preferred with 3-6 month of hire; must meet company insurability standards.

Responsibilities

  • Meets established sales goals for truck and trailer sales through selling to existing customers and seeking out new customers.
  • Prepares and specs all sold orders.
  • Identifies and secures all pricing discounts, promotional marketing programs and special rebate allowances.
  • Checks all pre-bills and confirms that specs match customer requirements.
  • Assists customers in selecting a truck or trailer by asking questions and listening carefully to their response to satisfy their transportation needs.
  • Explains product performance, application, and benefits to prospects.
  • Offers test-drives to all prospects.
  • Follows dealership procedure to obtain proper identification from customer prior to test drive.
  • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Utilizes dealership sales control and follow-up system.
  • Knows and understands federal, state, and local laws which govern retail truck and trailer sales.
  • Attends product and sales training courses and meetings as requested by management.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
  • Turns over 100 percent of closed deals to finance and insurance manager, along with properly completed paperwork (insurance information, trade title, etc.).
  • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.
  • Prepares sold trucks and trailers for customer delivery prior to customer arrival.
  • Works to maintain and build relationships with existing customers.
  • Aggressively prospects for and builds business with new customers.
  • Performs a minimum of 40 in-person sales contacts monthly and enters results into HCMS.
  • Delivers trucks and trailers to customers, ensuring that the customer understands the operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Performs per unit pre-sale and post-sale inspection.
  • Introduces customers to parts and service department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of service repairs and maintenance available in the dealership's service department.
  • Follows up on all post-delivery items, tag/title work, "we-owes", and special requests to be sure that all customer expectations are met.
  • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains and utilizes Hunter Customer Management Systems.
  • Understands the terminology of the truck business and keeps abreast of changes in product technology, incoming inventory, features, accessories, etc.
  • Knows and understands the value of used trucks and trailers in dealership inventory.
  • Conducts truck and trailer delivery ensuring that the customer understands the operating features, warranty, and paperwork.
  • Makes sales calls with self-provided dependable transportation.
  • Maintains professional appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to drive across county and state lines.
  • Reads and is accountable to The Hunter Family of Companies New and Used Truck Sales Policies and Procedures manual.
  • Adheres to and promotes all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment.
