About The Position

The Maintenance Technician performs routine and preventative maintenance, diagnostics/troubleshooting, and repair on vehicles for which a maintenance request has been received, including Company and owner/operator tractors and trailers, as well as equipment purchased by the Company. All maintenance and repairs on equipment are performed with driver and vehicle safety as the primary focus, including compliance with all DOT standards. This position also completes any welding necessary for repairs and upkeep of equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, kneel, squat, grip and climb consistently.
  • Ability to remain reclined on concrete surface for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. at a time on a regular basis.
  • Ability to grip and torque variety of tools on a regular basis.
  • Ability to maintain extended visual attention, including depth perception.
  • Confined space entry into portal of up to 18” required for tank inspection and repair.
  • Ability to tolerate strong chemical smells, such as ammonia, nitric acid, and others.
  • Consistent visual focus on components of vehicles and equipment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • CDL with Hazmat endorsement preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance, diagnostics/troubleshooting, and repair on vehicles.
  • Maintain and repair Company and owner/operator tractors and trailers.
  • Maintain and repair equipment purchased by the Company.
  • Ensure driver and vehicle safety in all maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT standards.
  • Complete any welding necessary for repairs and upkeep of equipment.
  • Work on Cummins engines and Eaton Auto Transmissions.
  • Service ABS drum and disc brakes, wheel ends, hubs, bearings, and wheel seals.
  • Perform tire and wheel alignments.
  • Service emergency shut offs, pumps, compressors, valves, and plumbing.
  • Work with Samsara systems.
  • Service air ride and spring ride suspensions.
  • Work on Peterbilt equipment with ESA program.
  • Build hoses.
  • Utilize maintenance and inventory software.
  • Maintain maintenance records.
  • Prepare hazardous material tanks for change in product.
  • Fabricate and modify parts using welding equipment.
