Truck and trailer/Heavy-duty Apprentice
About The Position
Loraas Disposal North is seeking a Truck and trailer/Heavy-duty Apprentice for their Saskatoon district. This role involves inspecting and repairing garbage trucks, support vehicles, and smaller off-road equipment. The apprentice will conduct preventative maintenance, maintain accurate work orders using an electronic system, and complete safety checks. They will also be required to learn and service post-collection processing equipment and perform facility work as needed. The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with rotating shifts (6:00 am - 2:30 pm and 9:30 am - 6:00 pm) and requires working every 5th Saturday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. - A minimum of Full Class 5 driver’s license
Responsibilities
- Inspect and repair Garbage Trucks, support vehicles and smaller off-road equipment in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner.
- Conduct preventative maintenance using scheduled inspections to ensure all equipment and systems are operational and maintain sufficient level of operational trucks in the fleet.
- Maintain accurate work orders and parts charge outs using an electronic work order system.
- Complete all safety checks and record all tire and brake measurements in the company database.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Works independently as well as under direction of the journeyperson mechanics and lead hands.
- Will be required to learn and service all post collection processing equipment and perform facility work as needed.
