About The Position

The Troubleshooter Day Shift position involves working as a single-person crew to troubleshoot and repair electrical lines and equipment. Responsibilities include identifying and isolating faulty equipment, operating switching devices, clearing unsafe conditions, restoring electrical service, and performing various maintenance tasks on overhead and underground systems. The role also includes installing and repairing street lights, performing inspections, making electrical measurements, and directing the work of other Lineworkers during emergency conditions. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and safe operating practices.

Requirements

At least four years of line-related experience and obtaining a Lineworker I classification or equivalent.
Mechanical aptitude.
Thorough knowledge of the electric transmission and distribution system.
Analytical, alert, and resourceful.
Demonstrated safe work habits.
Ability to climb.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, day or night.
Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, and working aloft in a bucket and in confined spaces.
Must be able to respond to storm emergencies, extended shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Must obtain and maintain a New Hampshire High/Medium Voltage License.
A Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B rating is required.
Ability to obtain a CDL Class A rating with an "0" endorsement within six months of hire.
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Must successfully complete and pass a written and practical test before an offer is made.
Must become a member of the union.

Responsibilities

Work on energized and de-energized lines and equipment at all voltage levels, utilizing approved work methods, equipment, and tools.
Identify and isolate faulty primary and secondary equipment.
Operate switching devices on overhead and URD systems.
Work with Field Electricians on overhead and underground systems.
Clear faulty and unsafe conditions, including maintaining and restoring electrical service.
Connect, disconnect, and operate portable transformers, generators, and temporary primary jumpers to restore service under emergency or urgent conditions.
Work with the Substation group to connect mobile substations.
Replace failed transformers with the assistance of another qualified person.
Replace damaged or faulty services during initial response or as follow-up corrective maintenance.
Repair and re-energize primary lines.
Perform street light installation and repair.
Install and remove protective covers.
Perform overhead and underground inspections and patrols.
Perform additional security, perimeter, and emergency inspections of substations.
Make current and voltage measurements as required.
Direct the work of other Lineworkers assigned or necessary to assist with emergency conditions.
Apply standards, operating procedures, service requirements, and safe operating practices relating to recurring work without reference to notes.
Operate and adjust overhead and pad-mounted controlled equipment inspections as required.
Respond to emergency situations and may be assigned to an Emergency Restoration assignment, potentially working outside normal responsibilities, hours, and location.
