About The Position

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Success Coach is a year-long academic, social, and personal development and mentorship program developed to prepare incoming SSS students for an enriching and rewarding college career. SSS looks for committed, dependable flexible, outgoing, and emotionally mature current SSS participants who are receptive to constructive feedback, personal development, and willing to adapt to the role as needed to be an outstanding role model for new SSS participants.

Requirements

Must have completed one academic semester of college
Must be an active Student Support Services participant
Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
Have an interest in working with students
Demonstrate basic understanding of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a cooperative manner with all students, co-workers, and supervisors
Must be dedicated and engaged in the goals and objectives of SSS and fellow participants
Dedication to networking with diverse students in all levels of college life
Must have continued communication with supervisor in all aspects of job during term of employment
Demonstrate strong time management skills
Demonstrate knowledge of available technology including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
Demonstrate basic knowledge of campus resources

Responsibilities

Provide coverage of the TRIO Suite front desk and phone (2 hours/week), greeting all callers and visitors in a courteous, polite, and professional manner
Advise students who drop into the Suite with questions about TRIO SSS & TRIO McNair on how to apply, program eligibility, and encourage participation in TRIO programs
Meet weekly with TRIO SSS Program Coordinator to discuss progress on projects, goals, obstacles, and needed support (1 hour/week)
Create a professional development plan with TRIO SSS Program Coordinator to guide ongoing personal and professional development
Meet weekly with TRIO SSS Program Coordinator and other SSS Success Coaches to discuss upcoming events and discuss ongoing issues (1 hour/week)
Attend/participate in work-related trainings as required for the position
Advise and connect SSS students with resources across campus
Develop, in collaboration with TRIO SSS Program Coordinator, SSS sponsored workshops and events.
Help evaluate current programs/events, including problems and possible solutions
Attend and participate in SSS sponsored workshops and events
Assist with special projects and other assignments as required
