About The Position

The Trimmer is responsible for placing and attaching trim fabric materials to the frame consistent with brand standards and custom specifications to meet customer’s needs. This role involves attaching binding, braids, skirts, or other trimming materials or fabrics to upholstered frames, and may include attaching fasteners, grommets, buttons, buckles, ornamental trim, and other accessories to covers or frames using hand tools. The Trimmer also examines furniture frames and upholstery to locate defects, fits and installs material on frames, and makes custom upholstered furniture. Reading work orders and applying knowledge of materials to determine types and amounts of materials required is also a key part of the role.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience as an upholsterer.
• Ability to perform skilled tasks with occasional problem solving to resolve issues.
• Ability to multi-task and manage many responsibilities and projects at one time.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders.
• Ability to interact individually with users and work cross-functionally throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

• Attaches binding, braids, skirts or other trimming materials or fabrics to upholstered frames.
• Attaches bindings or apply solutions to edges of cut material to prevent raveling.
• Attaches fasteners, grommets, buttons, buckles, ornamental trim, and other accessories to covers or frames, using hand tools.
• Examines furniture frames, upholstery to locate defects.
• Fits, installs, and secures material on frames, using hand tools, power tools, glue, cement, and/or staples.
• Makes custom upholstered furniture, using hand tools and knowledge of fabrics and upholstery methods.
• Reads work orders and apply knowledge and experience with materials in order to determine types and amounts of materials required to cover workpieces.
• Maintain brand standards on all produced upholstered product
• Meet customer expectations by adhering to specifications on upholstery work orders
