About The Position

Hood Industries, Inc. is seeking a Trimmer Operator to join our team at our Bogalusa, LA lumber facility. The Trimmer Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring trimmer equipment to process lumber efficiently and accurately while supporting production goals, product quality, and workplace safety. This role is essential to the success of our sawmill operations and offers the opportunity to work in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn lumber mill safety standards and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Responsibilities

Operate the trimmer and related equipment, including conveyors and feeders, to process lumber through the production line.
Inspect lumber and make trimming decisions based on quality and production specifications.
Monitor equipment performance and report on mechanical issues or production concerns.
Assist with minor maintenance and routine upkeep of the trimmer and related machinery.
Handle and move lumber as required throughout the shift.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and maintenance personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned.
