About The Position

This position will be proficient in operating Trimble robotic total stations and layout tools and will accurately transfer BIM/CAD design coordinates to the field for construction layout. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2 years' experience with hands-on operations of Trimble robotic total stations and/Trimble layout tools in a construction environment.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification or willingness to get it.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to jobsites.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial or industrial electrical experience (conduit routing, panel/switchgear placement, cable tray layout)
  • Commercial or industrial mechanical /HVAC experience (ductwork, piping, equipment placement)
  • Commercial or industrial plumbing experience (underground, riser layout, fixture rough-in)
  • Experience with Trimble SC series scanning total stations or 3D scanning workflows
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Navisworks, Revit, or AutoCAD for reviewing models
  • BIM/VDC coordination or modeling experience is a strong plus
  • Multi-trade layout experience across two or more MEP disciplines

Responsibilities

  • Operate Trimble robotic total station and field layout tools to establish control points, set layout points, and verify as-built conditions on active jobsites.
  • Perform point layout for MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) hangers, supports, sleeves, penetrations, embeds, anchors, and equipment pads.
  • Coordinate with project managers, foremen, BIM/VDC coordinators, and trade partners to ensure layout accuracy and resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and care for Trimble instruments, accessories, and related equipment.
  • Document completed layout work, prepare field reports, and communicate deviations or RFIs as needed.
  • Train and mentor field personnel on basic layout tool operation and best practices.
  • Follow all site safety protocols and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Work with tools as needed or required.
