About The Position

Trim & Drill Technicians utilize a high degree of understanding of work orders, planning, quality inspections, and NCR processes to successfully trim, drill, ream, and countersink holes in composite parts and assemblies. The Cirrus Facility in Grand Forks produces composite "fiberglass" parts such as Wings, Fuselages, Horizontals, and their accompanying parts for the Cirrus SR20, SR22 piston airplane, and the SF50 Vision Jet.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-2 years of Trim & Drill experience preferred
  • Minimum 1 year Cirrus experience
  • 2 years of comparable composite work experience or 3 years of manufacturing experience
  • Willingness to accept changes and challenges
  • Ability to or completion of qualification SSR, as well as level 1 cell tasks per T&D progression plan

Responsibilities

  • Proficient at Trim & Drill Technician responsibilities plus.
  • Reviews fixtures to determine whether maintenance is needed prior to use (Bushings, Clamps, Pins)
  • Correctly operate the tools assigned, understand feed rates, bit and blade usage, etc.
  • Understanding of traceability, department internal and external customers, hot lists, short to three, stock out, and preventative maintenance on fixtures.
  • Proficient with Learning Management System (LMS) and governing documents (PDM).
  • Safely operate tools of the trade safely and effectively.
  • Deburrs, grinds, and finishes cured parts to conform to engineering drawings, specifications, and process plans using templates, molds, jigs, fixtures using hand and power tools.
  • Perform or assist in first article or test parts and assemblies involving compound or complex contours working to close tolerances.
  • Proficient in use and recognition of the necessary tools needed to perform task.
  • Proficient in reading, interpreting and working from engineering drawings, blue prints, production illustrations and other specifications to determine the identity, location and relationship of aircraft parts.
  • Complete work instructions properly, able to understand the planning flow and be able to adjust and explain the planning procedures.
  • Must be able to understand all process specifications and pertinent reference information.
  • Must be proficient in completing forms necessary to generate work and changes to work orders, pick lists, drawings, and other related documents.
  • Leads the daily 6S standards (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety).
  • Wears proper protective equipment during appropriate job functions.
  • Understands Cirrus documentation, process and standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Lead, Department Supervisor, Line Manager, or appropriate designee.
