About The Position

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Bronx District Attorney is seeking two Attorney Assistants (TPA 1) to assist Appeals Bureau Assistant District Attorneys with post-conviction matters.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A valid New York State driver’s license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience within and outside the five boroughs is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with court staff, agency staff, and external agency staff.
  • Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain digital case files and mental hygiene tracking database.
  • Process defense requests for hearing and trial exhibits and maintain exhibit database.
  • Prepare and deliver documents for postal service mailing.
  • Request and track down court transcripts.
  • Obtain and file orders to produce.
  • Provide clerical support to paralegals, including data entry, filing, and case management.
  • Retrieve court and prosecution files.
  • Assist paralegals in preparing court exhibits, discovery materials, and related documents.
  • Help paralegals prepare court orders, motions, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
  • Maintain various Appeals Bureau databases and calendars.
  • All other duties as assigned.
