About The Position

The Kansas Judicial Branch is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Trial Court Clerk II for the 8th Judicial District in Dickinson County, Kansas. The position manages and processes court cases, supports courtroom operations, and assists the public, legal professionals, and partner agencies to help ensure the smooth operation of the District Court. The hourly rate is $18.75, increasing to $19.23 after six months of successful performance and $20.68 after one year of successful performance. The position performs other duties as assigned by the Clerk of the District Court.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of clerical experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with virtual platforms such as Zoom.
Ability to manage phone calls and in-person interactions.
Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Accurately receive, docket, and process court cases.
Issue legal documents and follow established court procedures.
Schedule hearings and maintain the court calendar.
Process payments and prepare court dockets.
Provide support and information to judges, attorneys, self-represented litigants, law enforcement, and the public by phone, email, and in person.
Facilitate courtroom proceedings in person and virtually.
Operate courtroom recording and virtual conferencing technology.
Communicate clearly and professionally, verbally and in writing.
Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Make decisions based on applicable laws, rules, and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Clerk of the District Court.
